Respiratory Therapist (Cardiopulmonary) - Contract in Bethel, Alaska

Position Summary

• Provide full scope cardiopulmonary services to patients of all ages.
• Ensure care respects patient rights and dignity.
• Assist in problem-solving related to patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current credentials as CRTT or RT.
• Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent.
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
• Skills in intubation assistance, AFB sample procurement, and pulmonary function testing (PFT).

Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to read and interpret physician orders, technical manuals, and hospital policies.
• Effective communication with physicians, managers, patients, and the public.
• Ability to explain respiratory treatment modalities to patients and determine when interpreter services are needed.
• Accurate documentation and report writing skills.
• Mathematical skills including basic arithmetic and interpretation of graphs.
• Strong reasoning skills to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
• Cardiopulmonary technical skills including airway management, CPR, intubation assistance, ventilator operation, ABG procurement and analysis, chest physiotherapy, patient suctioning, RSV and AFB sample procurement, knowledge of respiratory therapy medications and delivery methods, and pulmonary function testing.

• Oxygen cylinders and concentrators
• Nebulizers and supplemental oxygen delivery devices for all ages
• Pulmonary function equipment
• Treadmill/stress testing equipment
• EKG machines
• Holter and event monitors
• ISTAT arterial blood gas analyzer

Contract Details

• Employment Type: Contract
• Contract Length: 26 weeks
• Shift: 32 hours per week
