OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Surgical Services
- Shift: 4x10 hour evening shifts (10:45 AM - 9:15 PM and 12:45 PM - 11:15 PM)
- Average Daily Census: 50-60 cases per day
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, approximately once a month totaling 16 hours
- On-Call: Required as needed
- Floating: May float within scope of practice to meet facility needs
- Locals: Not accepted; must live more than 50 miles from facility
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Surgical Technician license in Illinois
- Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Case skills/experience required in multiple surgical areas including:
- ENT: Direct laryngoscopy, radial neck dissection, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, tracheostomy
- Endoscopic Procedures: Colonoscopy, EGD, PEG tube placement/exchange
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection (open/laparoscopic)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred
- No professional license required for this role
Additional Requirements
- Must be physically present in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for fingerprinting (must be done in-state)
- Background checks and various state-specific screenings required within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9-panel) required within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required, including:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (for new contracts)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption by November 30
- Competency exam required
- References: 2 professional references required
- Badge photo required before start
- Parking permit required (no cost)

Notes
- Schedule accommodations can be discussed with manager
- All time off must be approved by manager
- Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
