Description
Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (Contract)
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide primary nursing care in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, including 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds.
- Patient ratios: 1:4 in Progressive Care, 1:3 in Step-down ICU.
- Duties include telemetry monitoring and strip reading, fingerstick blood sugar testing, and general acute care nursing.
- Use of Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication dispensing, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment.
- Scheduled for 36 hours per week after orientation; no guaranteed hours; no on-call required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Hawaii
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Acute care experience
- BLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Must arrive the Thursday before assignment start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
- Will float to all acute care units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and Emergency Department.
- Dress code: Scrubs.
