Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery / Postpartum) - Travel Position

Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Job Summary

• Provide independent nursing care in labor and delivery and postpartum settings.
• Manage routine and complex patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Delegate and assign tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments following protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Patient Ratios

• Labor and Delivery: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Postpartum: 1 nurse to 6 patients (3 mothers and 3 babies)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants)
• Current certification in one of the following:

  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or
  • NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)

Orientation and Onboarding

• New experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires receive preceptorship by a trained staff member.
• Completion of organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation required.
• Annual competency verification must be completed.

Work Environment

• Full-time position with 12-hour day shifts.
• Facility includes a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage.
