Registered Nurse – Med Surg Telemetry (Night Shift, Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per week: 36 hours
• Float Assignment: May float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Units Covered: General Surgery, Trauma, Vascular, Wound, Plastics
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• On-call: Not required
• Electronic Health Record: Prior experience with Epic system mandatory

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg or telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Prior experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Physician documentation within 1 year stating good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations/Vaccinations:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31); mask required if declining
• Tuberculosis Screening: Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive; TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual test
• Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
• COVID-19: Not required but strongly recommended to have primary vaccination and boosters

Additional Requirements

• Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; must be completed using specific code (3701.881)
• Background Check Attestation: Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
• Orientation: Annual safety manual acknowledgement required
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training: Certificate required prior to start and updated annually
• Ethics and Compliance: Annual review and acknowledgment required for new contracts
• Employment Application and Skills Checklist: Required prior to start
