Description
Registered Nurse (OB/L&D) - Minnesota, Bemidji
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years OB/L&D nursing experience, including postpartum care
- Active Minnesota RN license (temporary or pending licenses considered with potential start date adjustments)
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
- Experience with EPIC or other EMR systems
- Ability to work in Labor and Postpartum units
- Willingness to float to Med-Surg and Telemetry units as needed
Job Responsibilities
- Provide care for postpartum, stable antepartum, newborns, gynecology patients, and Med-Surg overflow
- May serve as second RN in Special Care Nursery (SCN)
- Assist with circulating duties in Labor & Delivery (a plus)
- Float primarily as helping hands; expected to take Med-Surg patients occasionally
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, rotating day and night
- Includes weekends
- Assist in filling schedule vacancies due to onboarding, staff vacancies, or FMLA
Patient Load & Support Staff
- Average daily census: 5 mom/baby couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 gynecology, 2 labor, 4 SCN patients
- Support staff includes ward clerk (7am-7pm), CNA (Tues-Thurs), charge nurse/circulator, resource nurse, and LPN scrub nurse without assignments
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN standards:
- 1:3 mom/baby couplets
- 1:5 gynecology/Med-Surg patients
- 1:3-4 pediatrics
Orientation & Unit Information
- Equipment and unit orientation provided on first day
- Equipment used: EPIC One Chart, Omnicell, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medula Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call Light System, Medfusion Pumps
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Additional Notes
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
- Must disclose if previously employed by this health system; prior employment requires a minimum 6-month gap before rehire
