Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Night shifts, Friday through Sunday (3 shifts per week)
  • Hours per shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Total hours per week: 36 hours
  • Electronic Medical Record system: MEDITECH (experience not required)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of identity: Government-issued photo ID required during working hours
  • Employment eligibility verification (I9 and E-Verify)
  • Background checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Education verification or diploma if verification is unavailable
  • NURSYS license verification (required for all RNs)
  • Clinical references: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually
  • Performance and internal evaluations if previously employed over 1 or 2 years respectively

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination accepted
    • Negative TB test (PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 6 months prior to start; chest x-ray and annual questionnaire if previously positive
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer, 2 MMR vaccines, or declination (titers/vaccines preferred)
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or declination (titers/vaccines preferred)
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September through March)

Certifications and Competencies

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Competency exams as required
  • Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment

Additional Notes

  • Candidates requesting religious or medical exemptions for flu vaccination must complete facility-specific exemption forms with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Facility-specific online training modules must be completed prior to assignment start
  • Prior experience with MEDITECH EMR is a plus but not mandatory
