Job Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Works under the supervision of Nurse Manager/Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in ongoing education to meet learning needs.
- Use patient education materials and assess patient/family readiness and developmental level for learning.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan evaluation and revision.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care.
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Organize and prioritize care based on patient/family needs.
- Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues and discharge planning.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs, fostering family advocacy.
- Collaborate with patients/families and multidisciplinary resources in care planning.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care.
- Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school of Nursing
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Labor and Delivery experience
