RN - Labor & Delivery
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care, focusing on patient comfort, education, and satisfaction. The role includes supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, mentoring/precepting, and participating in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the hospital stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to staff and foster teamwork and communication.
- Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement, and practice governance.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care nursing experience
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
