Dialysis Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Illinois
Position Details
- Job Title: Dialysis Registered Nurse
- Location: Decatur, Illinois
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- On-Call: Yes, 2-3 overnight calls per rotation; every third Saturday on call until Monday 7:00 AM (1-hour response time for emergent cases only)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Average Daily Census: 3-6 patients in a 2-room, 4-bed unit
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis experience, with dialysis experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an acute care setting
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Facility & Work Environment
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Staffed Beds: 372
- Charting System: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Scrub Color: Provided
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Additional Requirements & Preferences
- Response Time: On-call response within 1 hour for emergent cases
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts
- Preferred Experience: Teaching hospital, community hospital, trauma Level I & II experience preferred
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusion lists
- State-Specific Checks: Illinois Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and State Police registries within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting: Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting required for clinical candidates without an IL license; must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start
- Education Verification: Initial degree verification required; unofficial transcripts accepted if official pending
- Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
- Photo for Badge: Color photo required within one week of contract signing
- Code of Conduct: Must be reviewed and signed within 7 days of contract signing
- Flu Vaccination: Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- Physical Exam: Required within one year of start; must confirm good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
- Fit Mask Test: Required for new contracts; specific mask types accepted; not completed onsite
- Immunizations:
- TB test or chest X-ray within one year
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or positive titer or signed declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or signed declination
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; negative dilute results require retest
- References: Two professional references required for clinical candidates
