Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care
Location
- Albany, Georgia
Contract Length
- 17 weeks
Unit Details
- 14 beds on unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Shift hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Schedule: Every other weekend, rotating with permanent staff
Patient Population & Care
- Conditions include diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis (dialysis nurse available), post-surgical overflow, amputations, debridements, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, psych (future hospice possible)
- Medications commonly used: Lasix, Bumex, Heparin
- Use of CPAP (night shift only for BiPAP)
- Monitored patients are on a different unit; nurses are not required to read cardiac strips
- CNA ratio generally 1:12, with pull for 1:1 and sitters as needed
Requirements
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
Additional Information
- Uniform: Caribbean Blue top and bottom OR White top and Caribbean Blue bottom OR all white top and bottom
- No bags allowed at nurse’s station; personal locker with lock recommended
- LPNs and LPN-Cs are used on the floor
- Interview will include questions about missed shifts on last contract
