Surgical Technician Travel Job - Illinois, Chicago
Job Details
- Specialty: Surgical Technician
- Location: Chicago, Illinois
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, approximately 06:30 AM to 07:00 PM (workday hours 11:00 AM to 07:30 PM; may extend depending on case load)
- Schedule: Rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call
- On-Call Requirements:
- One night every 2 weeks
- One weekend every 6 weeks
- Work Schedule Options: Open to 4x10-hour shifts or 3x12-hour shifts
- Work Environment: Busy Operating Room (OR) department performing open heart, multiple medical, and orthopedic surgeries
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience in a busy OR department
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is mandatory
- Must be able to take call as required by the agency
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Surgical Technologist license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Completion of workplace violence prevention training (DCI/BVP)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Notes
- Workday hours may extend depending on surgical case load
- Must be willing to work rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as specified
- Fit testing must be completed prior to start; no onsite fit testing available in Illinois region
- Resume and two professional references (one from a manager or direct supervisor) required at time of offer acceptance
This position is ideal for a Surgical Technician with solid OR experience, EPIC proficiency, and flexibility for on-call and extended hours in a high-volume surgical environment.
