Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 8 weeks (June 1, 2026 – July 26, 2026)
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care in an ICU/CCU setting during an Epic EMR go-live transition.
- Deliver care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Care for adult patients with cardiac/telemetry needs, stroke, vascular interventions, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Estimated 36-hour workweek with possible overtime.
- May be placed on call occasionally during low census; must be able to respond and arrive onsite within one hour if called.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Cerner and Epic EMR systems.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (American Heart Association or Apex Innovations only).
- Current driver’s license or state ID.
- Must pass professional license verification within 30 days of start.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted).
- MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
- Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during season (Sept 1 – March 31); declination accepted.
- TB test: Negative test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG); if history of positive test, must provide chest x-ray and questionnaire.
- Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
- Tdap valid within 10 years; declination accepted.
- Physician health statement within last 12 months.
- Drug screen (9-panel) within 30 days of start.
- Background check within 30 days of start including SS trace and county search for last 7 years.
- Adult and Child Abuse clearance as required by state.
- Education verification through third party.
- Employment eligibility screening (EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start.
- Other required attestations and acknowledgments related to onboarding and Epic registration.
Additional Information
- Experience with Cerner and Epic EMR systems required.
- Traveler will not be part of regular call rotation but must be available for occasional call-in.
- Must complete a skills checklist within 12 months.
- Must complete OSHA questionnaire.
- Must upload required documentation and complete all onboarding steps timely.
This position is ideal for an experienced critical care RN comfortable with telemetry, cardiac care, and EMR transitions, seeking a short-term ICU assignment with a defined start and end date.
