Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Travel

Location: Morristown, New Jersey

Job Overview

Provide competent nursing care in Labor & Delivery with a focus on patient assessment, clinical skills, documentation, professionalism, patient satisfaction, and safety. Deliver care tailored to surgical patients including pre-operative and postoperative education and assessments. Support perioperative team responsibilities and ensure patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, systematic assessments across all age groups from pediatric to geriatric.
• Deliver direct patient care and demonstrate competent clinical skills, including emergency procedures and equipment use.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing processes and patient progress, including patient education.
• Uphold professional practice standards and identify opportunities for clinical and professional growth.
• Promote patient and family-centered care with courteous and positive communication, maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and patient identification using two identifiers.
• Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
• Individualize care based on surgical procedures and anesthesia types; assess patient understanding and reactions.
• Take responsibility for prioritizing and directing patient care within the perioperative team.
• Conduct pre-admission testing evaluations and support timely completion of patient testing.
• Provide pre-operative and postoperative patient education and assessments.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Jersey.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Physical Requirements

Must meet physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety/OMS standards.

Experience
