ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 18:45 - 07:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with floating to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) as needed
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Start Date: Biweekly starts, typically 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance
- Work Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
- Team Environment: Collaborative, great team player required
- Charting System: EPIC
- Facility Type: Acute Care, Magnet designated hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 222

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal Background Check (7-year search, statewide and nationwide, including international if applicable) within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated quarterly
- Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units
- Education verification of highest nursing degree (no pending allowed at start)
- Professional license primary source verification and NURSYS verification
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) with annual renewal
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required (no exemptions allowed for NICU or newborn nursery)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Required facility-specific documents:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
- Confidentiality Form (annual)
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
- TB Questionnaire (annual)
- Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
- Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
- Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
- Orientation Modules (approx. 16 hours, required for all RNs)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
Additional Requirements
- References: Two professional references required; supervisors within the last year preferred
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded
- Unit-specific competency exam required, updated annually
- Skills checklist within 1 year of start, including oncology skills if applicable
- No on-call required
- Locals within 75 miles radius not accepted
- Return to work restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract
