Job Opportunity: CVPICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)
  • Pediatric experience is required
  • Weekend shifts as needed; weekend block scheduling not accommodated (discuss scheduling requests during interview)
  • Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted (strict radius)
  • First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 3+ years recent pediatric nursing experience
  • Pending licenses are not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Pediatric nursing experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience & Travel Requirements

  • Pediatric nursing experience required (minimum 3 years recent experience for first-time travelers)
  • Prior travel experience is required (first-timers not accepted unless 3+ years recent pediatric experience)

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 60 days of start including: statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu)
  • Sex offender search required separately
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually
  • Two recent professional references required
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluation required annually or if employed with agency for 1+ year
  • Submission packet includes application, references, skills checklist, state license verification, and certifications

Facility & Dress Code Notes

  • Facility is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Scrub colors: Navy blue for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
  • Photo badge required prior to start with strict guidelines (passport-style photo, no hats, no glasses with glare, no facial piercings)
  • Business casual dress code with white lab coat for RN Case Managers (not applicable here but noted)

Additional Notes

  • All Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission; no changes after offer
  • EPIC questionnaire required for RNs (testing out of EPIC training possible if experienced)
  • Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed prior to start
  • Onsite fit test and Cerner questionnaire may be required if applicable
