ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours per week, totaling 36 hours)
- Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with floating within scope to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) and ICU
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Schedule Requirements:
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Local Radius Rule: Candidates must be outside a 75-mile radius (locals not accepted)
- Start Date: Biweekly starts, typically 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Ability to assist with line insertion and intubation
- Knowledge and experience with hypothermia protocols, CRRT/CVVHD, and IABP
Compliance and Background Checks
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required (no pending at start)
- State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois and Missouri
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Fit mask testing required annually (N95 respirators)
- Immunizations and health documentation:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)

Required Documentation Prior to Start
- Employment application
- Two professional references (supervisors preferred, within last year)
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year (Oncology skills checklist if applicable)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific exams (annual updates required)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Signed HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy
- Regulatory compliance education quiz (annual, must score 80% or higher)
- Latex allergy questionnaire (annual)
- TB questionnaire (annual)
- Hepatitis B declination form (annual)
- Physical exam and fit mask test documentation
- Background check and license verifications including NURSYS for Missouri licenses
Additional Notes
- No on-call required
- Return to office restrictions: 7 days off within 13-week contract
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours/week for 3x12 shifts, 48 hours/week if 4x12 shifts are assigned
- Candidates must be able to comply with all facility policies and complete required orientation modules through the designated platform before starting
