Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology (Night Shift) – Ohio, Columbus

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 16 weeks
• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00–7:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Specialty Focus: Medical Oncology – solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers; care spans from diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life.
• Staffing Ratios: Typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling requests with no set/blocked schedules; weekends variable based on unit needs.
• Floating: Required to float to other MedSurg Oncology units.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum Experience: 2 years as a Registered Nurse
• Oncology Experience: Preferred but not required
• Skills:

  • Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
  • Ability to manage patients with medical-surgical issues alongside oncology care
• Certifications Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certifications Preferred:

  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification

Orientation

• Week 1: Monday to Friday, day shift orientation
• Week 2: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

Electronic Medical Record

• EPIC computerized charting system

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
