Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Primarily working in PET (Positron Emission Tomography) with possible float to Nuclear Medicine as needed.
- Variable start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
- Shift options: 4x10-hour shifts or 5x8-hour shifts, as preferred.
- Call required post-shift and rotating weekends; travelers may be exempt from call depending on experience but must be open to it.
- Experience with EPIC and Siemens systems is highly preferred.
- Weekend shifts may sometimes exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs.
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in California.
- Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year.
- At least 2 years of total travel experience.
- Certification: ARRT (N) or NMTCB.
- BLS certification.
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid California state license for Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, and additional specialty certifications may be required based on clinical track but are not mandatory for this role unless specified.
Experience Requirements
- Specialty experience: Minimum 1 year Nuclear Medicine with at least 6 months PET experience.
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted with 2+ years experience.
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital with Magnet recognition.
- Total staffed beds: 426.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Free parking available.
- Scrub color for RNs: Royal Blue.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable with attestation.
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required.
Additional Notes
- Local radius for this assignment is 50 miles.
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.
- Badge photo required prior to start.
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules and Epic training is mandatory before or shortly after start date.
- Scheduling requests for time off due to outside employment will not be accommodated.
Shift Details
- Day shift, typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (10 hours per day, 40 hours per week).
- Weekend and call responsibilities as described above.
