Description
Speech Pathologist - Contract Position
Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide speech and/or language therapy services primarily to a Native American patient population.
- Treat patients with developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
- Work with inpatient and outpatient populations, ages birth through geriatric.
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results; develop and adjust treatment plans based on physician referrals and patient progress.
- Document all assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and service terminations in electronic health records.
- Provide specialty services including swallowing evaluations (Videofluoroscopy, Modified Barium Swallowing, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), cognitive and voice treatments, pediatric speech/language and feeding evaluations, and geriatric and assistive technology clinics.
- Educate patients, families, and staff on speech-language procedures and home programs.
- Collaborate with physical rehabilitation teams and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement, risk management, safety initiatives, and staff/student training.
- Maintain medical staff credentialing core privileges.
- Regular work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (36 hours/week). Weekend services are not available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in Arizona.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year.
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
- COVID and flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted upon submission of a declination form.
- Housing application must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start date.
Notes
- This position does not accept Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs).
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
