Registered Nurse (Surgical Unit) - Night Shift

Job Summary

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide and manage patient care using professional nursing knowledge and skills. Responsibilities include assessing patient status, developing and modifying individualized care plans, performing bedside lab testing, and collaborating with healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply evidence-based nursing practices and protocols.
• Conduct patient assessments through interviews, observation, and physical exams.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Document patient progress and complete required reports.
• Demonstrate accountability and pursue ongoing professional development.
• Troubleshoot and operate medical equipment safely.
• Perform patient bedside lab testing and quality control per provider orders.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and utilize resources effectively.
• Prioritize work based on patient condition and assignment changes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and provide goal-focused shift reports.
• Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Use effective communication and teamwork strategies to promote high team performance.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet patient and family learning needs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
• The role involves managing both non-complex and some complex patient assignments with some turnover.
• Emphasis on patient and staff safety, including proper use of lift equipment and patient handling techniques.
