Registered Nurse - SICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
  • May float to all ICU floors
  • Could care for COVID-19 patients
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • Holidays: Expected to work 1 of 2 major upcoming holidays (e.g., Memorial Day or July 4th) and surrounding days
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
  • Minimum 2 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal background check
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM
    • HHS/OIG
    • PA FBI Fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days)
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (must be completed within 5 years; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days)
    • Pennsylvania State Police PATCH Search (must be finalized prior to start; cannot start with results pending)
  • Education verification (highest level of education)
  • Professional references: 2 required within 3 years
  • Employment application or most recent resume
  • Skills checklist (annual)
  • Performance evaluation (completed onsite during assignment)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
  • Vaccinations or positive titers required for:
    • Hepatitis B (full vaccine series or positive titer plus declination form)
    • Rubeola (Measles) - 2 doses or positive titer
    • Mumps - 2 doses or positive titer
    • Rubella - 2 doses or positive titer
    • Varicella - 2 doses or positive titer
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days (PPD not accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or valid medical/religious exemption required by October 31 annually
  • COVID-19 vaccine, medical/religious exemption, or declination accepted
  • Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (required by agency, not facility)

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required for all RNs except OR and Home Health
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required
  • Facility-specific learning modules and new hire orientation must be completed by the first day of orientation
  • Clear, professional photo for badge

Additional Notes

  • Candidate will be reviewed by clinical team for fit before manager interview
  • Floating to other ICU floors may be required
  • Facility enforces tobacco and fragrance-free policy
  • Must be able to work holidays as scheduled
