Description
Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel)
Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) with 12 beds
- Patient Ratio: Standard ICU ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients (may vary with acuity)
- Staffing: Includes 1 dayshift secretary; primary RN staffing
- Equipment: Standard critical care equipment plus Impella heart pump and Hemosphere advanced monitoring platform
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: Participative scheduling with minimum 3 weekend shifts per month; block scheduling not guaranteed
- Floating: Must float to other units such as PCU and Medical-Surgical as needed
- Critical Care Team: Responds to rapid responses and code blue events
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Additional Information
- Nurses are expected to explain care and medications clearly, treat patients with courtesy and respect, and respond promptly to call lights
- Travelers are subject to floating within the facility to cover staffing needs
- The unit is designated to respond to rapid responses and code blue situations
This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with cardiac ICU expertise seeking a travel assignment in a high-acuity ICU setting.
