Registered Nurse - Telemetry Stepdown

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Dayshift with every other weekend; Stepdown Float (floating to CVSU, Cardiopulmonary, Heart and Vascular Step Down, Comp Med Step down, and Cardiology Tele Step down)

Unit Description

• 28-bed Cardiac Medical Stepdown unit specializing in recovery following vascular and electrophysiology procedures.
• Care for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure.
• Provides cardiac monitoring for all patient populations.
• Services include titration of multiple intravenous medications and conscious sedation for cardioversions.
• All nurses are ACLS certified and have completed an ECG interpretation course.
• Suitable for nurses interested in transitioning to an ICU setting.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio.
• Minimum 2 years of stepdown nursing experience.
• Experience with cardiac drips such as amiodarone, Lasix, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone, etc.
• Ability to interpret heart rhythms.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide age- and culturally-specific patient care and education.
• Effective communication skills, maintaining confidentiality.
• Commitment to continuing professional growth and competence.
• Ability to accept and implement change and work in a culturally diverse environment.
• ACLS certification.
• Completion of an ECG interpretation course.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ventricular assist devices (VAD).
• Experience caring for post-open heart surgery, catheterization, vascular surgery, and cardiac patients.
