Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift) – Ohio

Job Details

  • Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
  • Must have a minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel assignment.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Minimum 18 months of total travel nursing experience.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) must be carried on assignment.
  • Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
  • Two professional references from employment within the past year required.

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online onboarding and training modules prior to start is mandatory.
  • Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts).
  • Candidates must complete all required modules on a computer using Google Chrome; videos must be watched before tests.
  • Photo for badge may be required.

Additional Notes

  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar area.
  • Skills checklist required annually.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility.
  • Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies; notification required.
  • Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a night shift travel contract with a reputable healthcare facility.
