Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift) – Ohio
Job Details
- Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
- Must have a minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel assignment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year.
- Minimum 18 months of total travel nursing experience.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
- Two professional references from employment within the past year required.
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding and training modules prior to start is mandatory.
- Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts).
- Candidates must complete all required modules on a computer using Google Chrome; videos must be watched before tests.
- Photo for badge may be required.
Additional Notes
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar area.
- Skills checklist required annually.
- Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility.
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies; notification required.
- Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a night shift travel contract with a reputable healthcare facility.
