Surgical Tech Travel Opportunity

Location: Kearney, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Position in a hospital operating room with 11 suites performing approximately 18 cases per day.
• Case types include orthopedics, urology, ENT, neuro (backs, cranis), and some pediatric cases (for RNs only).
• Use of advanced surgical technologies such as DaVinci robotics, Mako, Stealth, and Scopis.
• Shift: Day shift, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM start), Monday through Friday, with consistent weekly scheduling.
• Call requirements:

  • One weeknight call per week (end of shift until 7:00 AM next morning)
  • Three weekend call days per month (24-hour shifts)
  • Holiday call as needed
  • Call response time: 15 minutes
• Scrubs provided; artificial nails are prohibited.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred but not required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Must be competent to independently perform cranial procedures and take neuro-trauma call (score 3s in neuro).
• Experience required in:

  • Orthopedic total joint procedures
  • Level II trauma and orthopedic trauma cases
  • General OR experience with scrubbing ability
• Ability to scrub independently is mandatory.

• Operating room consists of 11 rooms with a good surgeon and anesthesia partnership.
• Fast-paced environment requiring a strong work ethic, hustle, and willingness to advocate for patient safety.
• Positive attitude and flexibility are essential.
• Travelers must be willing to float and work varied shifts; block scheduling or fixed travel duo schedules are not approved.
• One week of unit/department-specific orientation provided.
• No floating requirements outside of the OR unit.
• Manager and charge nurse present daily; charge nurse does not take room assignments.
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC.

• Scrub color/dress code is provided by the facility.
• Facility enforces strict fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited, and refusal to comply may result in contract termination.
