Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Travel Position
Location: Houston, Texas
Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), 2nd Floor
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Information
- 12 beds
- Patient-to-nurse ratio typically 1:2; may be 1:1 depending on patient acuity
- Day shift staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6-8 nurses, 1 secretary
- Night shift staffing: 1 charge nurse, 6-8 nurses
- Equipment includes Impella, IABP, PrisMax, ECMO, Alaris IV pump, Edwards Hemospheres, ventilators
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
- Floating areas: Medical ICU (MICU), Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit (CVIMU)
- Dress code: Royal blue scrubs
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend required; no on-call
Typical Procedures
- Recovery care for open-heart surgery patients
- Intubation and extubation
- Bedside bronchoscopy
- Bedside line insertion
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
- Ability to care for patients with advanced cardiovascular devices
