Description
Scrub Technician
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: 8-hour day shift (06:30 AM – 03:00 PM), 40 hours per week
- Includes 2-3 weekday on-call shifts and every 3rd to 4th weekend on-call shift
Job Summary
- Provide safe patient care following professional and hospital standards.
- Assist registered nurses in planning patient care and collaborate with health team members.
- Support surgical procedures by performing scrubbing duties and maintaining asepsis (not acting as a surgical assistant).
- Communicate patient information appropriately and account for all equipment and supplies used.
- Serve as a clinical preceptor for scrubbing, following orientation guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of the unit and surgical equipment.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and support teamwork within the department.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience within the last year.
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures related to patient care.
- Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Limited access to medication rooms; no handling of medications permitted.
Physical and Work Environment Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping.
- Frequent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs; pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and constant reaching/twisting motions.
- Frequent talking and hearing; corrected hearing and vision within normal range required.
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, infectious materials, communicable diseases, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Moderate to high noise levels.
- Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, irregular hours.
- May require taking call and working weekends/holidays based on department needs.

- Maintains adaptability and supports teamwork.
- Resolves problems and consistently meets customer service quality standards.
