Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Medical/Surgical Telemetry units (7 West, 7 East, 5 East)
- Patient population primarily adults with occasional pediatrics (1-5 per year)
- Unit has approximately 60 beds
- Common patient diagnoses include post-surgical care, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, weakness, and cancer
- Float opportunities to 6 East, acute rehab unit, and geriatric psych unit
- Use of Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
- RN-to-patient ratio approximately 1:5
- Scrubs color: Navy
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation (exam covers skills learned)
- Valid driver’s license required at submission
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
- Candidates must not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN within 50 miles at any facility associated with the specified health system
- Positive attitude, team player, culturally sensitive to diverse populations including African American and Korean-speaking patients
Additional Information
- Every other weekend work required
- Orientation includes a skills exam on Friday
- Candidate submission requires DOB, SSN, phone, email, permanent address, COVID vaccination status, and employment history with related health systems
