Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Call: One night of call per week and every seventh weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work setting requires experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) and Special Procedures.
  • Floating to other units or campuses is required as needed, limited to areas where staff are qualified and have documented competencies.
  • Medication system used: Omnicell
  • Documentation system: EPIC (minimum 1 year of EPIC experience required)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT R) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience with EPIC documentation system (minimum 1 year)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check: 7-year history within 12 months of start, including SS trace, alias searches, and county/state checks for all places lived/worked in last 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Drug screening: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health documents required (unless remote):
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot accepted)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (required if working/floating in high-risk areas)
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days of first.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.
  • Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used).

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of online modules within 72 hours of assignment is mandatory before starting onsite. These modules take approximately 12 hours and replace a traditional 9-day didactic orientation.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (Medication and Arrhythmia/EKG exams) required for all RN candidates and Electrophysiology/Monitor Techs. Two attempts allowed; passing score is 84%. Testing must be completed prior to orientation.
  • Annual competencies and core training (Parts I, II, III) required, covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, TJC National Patient Safety Goals, and more.
  • HIPAA and OSHA safety manual acknowledgment required annually.

Additional Notes

  • Floating policy must be signed and is required for clinical candidates.
  • Badge photo required prior to start with specific background and quality guidelines.
  • Resume/application must include a 7-year work history.
  • Internal and performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency for over 1 year.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but first-time travelers will be reviewed based on experience.
