Job Overview

• Provide total nursing care coordination for patients in a medical-surgical and telemetry setting.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient care team members to maintain professional nursing standards.
• Float between Acute Rehab, Med Surg, and any unit within scope of practice as needed.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
• 8-hour non-billable orientation required.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont or Compact RN license.
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
• Prior Charge RN experience required.
• Previous travel nursing experience of at least 3 months required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing current within 1 year.
• At least one supervisory-signed reference from the past two years of employment.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred but not required.

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Traveler must have their own vehicle due to lack of public transportation; this is a firm requirement.
• Local travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no more than 5 days of RTO allowed.
• Block scheduling or schedule accommodations will not be considered.
• 48-hour guarantee is not available.
• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance to the unit supervisor.
• Permanent address must be included in the traveler profile.
• All scheduling requests must be made at submission; no changes will be approved after offer.

Work Environment

• Small community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• Facility includes a therapeutic pool, physical therapy department, acute care, transitional care, and hospice services.
• Located in a community with no public transportation; close to outdoor recreation and within a 3-hour drive to major cities.
