Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location

• Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

• Travel contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call duties
• No floating to other locations

Patient Population

• Adult patients primarily
• Care includes critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients

Job Summary

• Provide pulmonary care under physician direction with minimal supervision
• Perform patient assessments and implement respiratory care plans
• Conduct technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures hospital-wide
• May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader

Key Responsibilities

• Emergency response (Code Blue and White)
• Airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
• Delivery of aerosolized medications
• Ventilator setup and management
• Oral hygiene and airway device maintenance
• Management of BiPAP, CPAP, and oxygen delivery devices
• Chest film analysis and blood gas collection/analysis
• EKG analysis and accurate documentation
• Equipment cleaning and stocking
• Participation in accreditation surveys (CAP and JC)
• Advanced skills may include:

  • Therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO2)
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Bronchoscopy assistance
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis
  • Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation and polysomnography
  • Patient transport duties

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Louisiana
• Respiratory Care Practitioner with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
