Description
Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)
Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: Orthopedics and Medical-Surgical
- Beds: Ortho (30 beds), Med Surg (37 beds)
- Patient Ratios: Typically 6:1
- Staffing: Utilizes Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Skilled Nursing Externs (SNEs), and Unit Secretary (US) during day shifts
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Floating Policy: May float to inpatient units, including Critical Care Unit (CCU) and Emergency Department (ED) for patient care and tasks
- Scheduling: Monthly schedules (4-week increments); full-time requires working 4 weekend shifts per month (e.g., 3 Saturdays and 1 Sunday)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Orthopedics
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Work Environment & Expectations
- Procedures: Some bedside procedures performed by physicians; less common than in CCU/ED
- Dress Code: Scrub top and bottoms required; no fleece, hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, denim, or camouflage; long sleeve shirt or scrub jacket allowed under scrub top; no shoes with holes
