Location: Ottumwa, Iowa

Job Overview

• Patient Population: Primarily adults and geriatrics
• Unit: Emergency Department (ER)
• Number of Beds on Unit: 17
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 (approximately 40 visits per day)
• Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 (candidate to specify preference)
• Call Coverage: Required 24/7 to cover daily volume and call needs
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: MediTech

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience in an Acute Care setting

Additional Information

• Start Days: Monday or Tuesday starts allowed
• Float Requirements: May be required to float within the facility
• Preferred Experience: Prior travel experience and experience in similar-sized facilities preferred
• Work Environment: Regional health center with 217 licensed beds offering a variety of services including ED, Critical Care, Med/Surg, Acute Rehab, OB, Pediatrics, Cath Lab, Diagnostics, Wound Care, Pain Clinic, Sleep Lab, and Pathology

Summary

This travel RN position in the Emergency Department requires a minimum of 1 year of recent ED experience, current RN licensure in Iowa, and specific certifications including BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI. The role involves 12-hour night shifts with guaranteed hours and 24/7 call coverage. Candidates must meet strict background check and immunization requirements prior to start.
