Registered Nurse (Stepdown/MedSurg) - Travel Assignment

Location: Fairmont, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 3 nights per week, 1900-0730)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
FTE: 0.9 (3 nights per week)

Unit Details

• Unit Type: Stepdown/MedSurg
• Number of Beds: 20
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Stepdown: 1:3
  • MedSurg Floor: 1:5-6
• Nurse Aids: Yes, 2 per shift
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen
• Telemetry: Yes, monitored remotely; RNs read strips
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections (UTI), acute kidney injury (AKI), chest pain
• Common Drips to Titrate: Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, amiodarone

Scheduling & Requirements

• Weekend Shifts: 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday Shifts: Rotate between evening or day shifts
• Call/Standby: None required
• Floating: Not required
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation provided

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in West Virginia
• Stepdown nursing experience required
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Ability to titrate drips as listed
• Must have an unexpired driver’s license (within 50-mile radius rule)
• Disclosure of any licensing issues required at time of submission

• Position is night shift only
• House Supervisor available on unit
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this assignment
