Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule

Unit Information

• Unit: Trauma Med/Surg (7th floor)
• Number of Beds: 34
• Patient Ratio: 6:1
• Staffing Support: Tech support available on day and night shifts; Unit secretary from 7 AM to 7 PM
• Equipment Used: IV Pumps, Telemetry, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Continuous Pulse Oximetry, Feeding Pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Responsibilities & Skills

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members
• Perform bedside shift reports and engage patients/families in the plan of care
• Med/Surg experience with ability to prioritize care and multitask
• Skills include starting IVs, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
