Description
Respiratory Therapist II - North Carolina (Raleigh)
Job Summary
- Provide advanced respiratory care including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and respiratory care procedures.
- Perform standard respiratory care such as aerosol medication delivery, bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, arterial punctures, tracheostomy care, endotracheal intubations, and extubations.
- May perform pulmonary function testing and advanced procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring as needed.
- Manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when working with ECMO.
- May transport pediatric and neonatal patients per protocol.
- Perform all aspects of ventilator care including setup, function verification, specialized ventilator modes, patient monitoring, and weaning techniques.
- Function independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource to other staff.
- May be required to be on-call during days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift
- 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- NICU experience preferred.
- EPIC electronic health record system experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical procedures.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and staff.
- Mathematical skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical situations.
