Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
- Patient population ranges from infants to geriatrics.
- Work in a Level 2 trauma operating room handling trauma cases such as gunshot wounds and car accidents.
- Exposure to a variety of surgical specialties including vascular cases (hybrid room with DaVinci robots), ENT, general surgery, orthopedic trauma, eye surgery, gynecology including gynecologic oncology.
- No open-heart surgery or organ transplant cases.
- Unit uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems.
- Average daily census: 32 patients across 10 rooms.
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM to 7:00 PM).
- Weekend schedule: Every third weekend.
- Floating within the facility as needed, within scope of practice.
- Call requirement: Approximately 7 days per month including holidays; weekend call is 24 hours.
- Holiday work expectations depend on number of major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including national and county criminal searches, sex offender registry, and education verification.
- Education verification of nursing degree required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start).
- Annual NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest X-ray if previously positive. TB questionnaire required annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster plan if needed.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster plan if needed.
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
- Flu vaccine or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable.
- Must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start.
Orientation and Onboarding
- Maximum Return to Orientation (RTO) time: 7 days.
- Orientation hours are non-billable and vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
- Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling.

- References: Two clinical references required by the staffing agency (not required by client).
- Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start).
- Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months required.
