Description
Registered Nurse (L&D) - Oregon, Roseburg
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Location: Roseburg, Oregon
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
- Unit: L&D / Postpartum / Mother-Baby
- Bed Configuration: 9 L&D beds, 4 Postpartum beds, 2 triage beds, 1 OR suite
- Birth Volume: Approximately 850-900 births per year
- Staffing Ratios: Follow AWHONN guidelines
- Scheduling: Yearly core schedules; weekend requirement every other weekend or 1 weekend based on seniority
- Call Requirement: Two 12-hour call shifts every 4 weeks
- Floating: Closed unit except in emergencies
- Dress Code: Scrubs provided, color purple
Patient Population & Care
- Common Diagnoses: LDRP care, obstetrical emergencies, hypertension, hemorrhage
- Procedures: Circulate and/or scrub in OR for cesarean sections
- Drip Management: RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin, Lactated Ringer’s (LR), Fentanyl, and Labetalol
- Equipment: 2 ventilators, 2 bubble CPAP machines
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): GE Centricity system
- Telemetry: Available; RNs read strips in OB, monitor techs available upstairs for continuous monitoring
- Support Staff: OB techs available; no in-house OB/neonatologist 24/7
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Labor and Delivery experience, minimum 2 years, with experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) by AHA
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience circulating and/or scrubbing in the OR for cesarean sections, including OR Circulate and OR Scrub RN experience
Orientation & Leadership
- Unit-specific orientation provided for all new employees
- Charge Nurse and House Supervisor roles present on unit
This position is ideal for experienced L&D nurses comfortable with high-acuity obstetrical care, including OR participation and drip titration, seeking a night shift contract in a well-structured unit with defined scheduling and call requirements.
