Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre Op

Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM (variable/flexible)
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Weekend and call requirements to be discussed during interview
Unit Information
- Unit: Pre-Op / Day Surgery / Phase 2 Recovery (PACU)
- Number of beds: 13
- Patient Ratios:
- Pre-op: 1:1 RN
- Phase II Recovery (Short Stay): 3:1 RN
- Unit staffing includes Unit Secretary nurses, Patient Care Assistants (PCA), and Phlebotomist
- Equipment and documentation system: Meditech, Hobilab
- Floating required per facility policy (details discussed during interview)
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license (temporary licenses not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- Pre-Op experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
Preferred Skills
- PACU experience
- IV skills
- Experience with Meditech electronic health record system
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Pain blocks with anesthesia
Dress Code and Appearance Guidelines
- Facility provides scrubs for RNs
- Nails must be clean and healthy
- Hair should be neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors
- Facial hair (beards, mustaches, sideburns) must be clean and neatly trimmed
- Tattoos should be covered whenever possible; uncovered body art addressed individually
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to float to other units as per facility floating policy
- Attendance and floating policies apply and will be reviewed during onboarding
