Description
Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3x12-hour shifts)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month
- Floating: Required to float within scope to three nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals: Accepted at same rate
- On-call: Not required
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
- Background checks:
- 7-year criminal history check updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
- Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved documentation)
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no FL Medical Marijuana card acceptance)
- Two professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required
Orientation & Training
- Orientation scheduled approximately 3-4 weeks from start date
- Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start (completed on computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Pharmacology) administered during orientation with two attempts allowed per test
- Facility is smoke-free and requires nicotine testing
- Must acknowledge and comply with facility privacy policies and safety manuals

- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; additions later may not be approved
- Candidates must be aware of time-sensitive Epic modules that require prioritization once assignment is confirmed
- Floating may include coverage at three hospitals within a 20-mile radius
- Candidates with prior background check hits may experience longer fingerprint clearance processing times
