Unit Profile
- Department: M2 Ortho (Med-Surg/Telemetry)
- Trauma Level: Level 3
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Weekly Hours: 36 (guaranteed)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Float: Required to float to all sister units
Patient Population & Care
- Adult and Geriatric patients
- Common diagnoses/treatments include:
- Total hip, total knee, total shoulder replacements
- Hip fracture
- Spine surgery
- Trauma surgery
- General medical/surgical overflow
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- High volume of daily discharges and admissions
Required Certifications & Education
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, with at least some experience within the last year
Required Skills & Experience
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of dysrhythmias
Equipment & Systems
- Baxter IV pumps
- SIGMA Spectrum Infusion System
- EMR systems: Omnicell, EPIC
Additional Information
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
