Description
Respiratory Therapist
Location: Meridian, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900-0730)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy for adults, pediatrics, and NICU patients (Level II NICU).
- Patient types include NICU Level IIB, MICU, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics, PACU treatments, and overnight oximetry.
- Work areas cover ER and inpatient floors, including ICU, MICU, MS-Telemetry, and ER.
- Perform arterial blood gases (ABGs) via radial or brachial sites and all respiratory treatments.
- Manage respiratory equipment such as Drager V500, Hamilton, ReVel, V60s, Vapotherm, and EPOC.
- Assist with intubation (independent intubation not required).
- May be required to float between specialties and sister facilities within approximately 10-14 miles radius.
- Self-scheduling with flexibility required; travelers are last to sign up and may need to fill gaps or rotate shifts.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Friday/Saturday nights, Saturday/Sunday days).
- Holiday rotation participation may be required.
- Optional call with a 30-minute response time.
- Orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor, typically 1 day NICU/general and 1 day ICU.
- Dress code: any color, clean and professional.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required (CRT not accepted).
- Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) for NICU.
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience.
- Comfortable working with adults, pediatrics, and NICU patients, including Level II NICU and initiating CPAP at deliveries.
- Comfortable floating across multiple specialties and units.
- First-time travelers are acceptable.
Additional Information
- Intensivists, hospitalists, and anesthesia staff are available 24/7; eICU coverage at night.
- Respiratory management and supervisory staff are present on all shifts.
- Traveler will not typically be the only RT in-house; night staffing ranges from 4-5 RTs.
- Must be willing to float within the Treasure Valley area (including nearby hospitals 10-14 miles away).
- Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidate residence.
This position offers a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, strong clinical skills across patient populations, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
