Job Opportunity: RN Stepdown
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Unit Overview
- Fast-paced, high acuity Step Down unit with 14 beds
- Patient population includes critically ill individuals with diagnoses such as:
- Chest pain
- Post kidney transplant
- Acute renal failure
- Congestive heart failure
- GI bleed
- Pneumonia
- Myocardial infarction
- Pulmonary disease (with or without mechanical ventilation)
- Thoracic and other surgical procedures with comorbidities
- Drug and/or alcohol withdrawal
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3:1
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Additional Onboarding Requirements
- Completion of unit-specific core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, and specialty skills with a minimum passing score of 80% (two attempts allowed)
- Passing score of at least 80% on the Ascension EKG exam (updated every 3 years)
- Completion of Cerner electronic health record test and training checklist
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and contract worker onboarding modules
- Submission of a professional resume/profile and at least two professional references
- Criminal background check including social security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry (updated annually)
- Employment and education verifications covering the past seven years
- Ascension profile photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
