Description
Respiratory Therapist - Idaho (13-Week Contract)
Job Overview
- Location: Twin Falls, Idaho
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days (6 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Work on holidays as needed
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with option for block scheduling
- Call Requirement: Low census call per contract
- Floating: Required to float to ICU, floors, NICU, and ER as needed
- Orientation: 1 week of unit/department-specific orientation (based on experience)
- Dress Code: Hunter green scrubs (must provide own)
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Patient Types: NICU to geriatrics (adult and pediatric only)
- Units Covered: Inpatient and ER; includes ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, small pediatric unit, and level III NICU (ventilator use occasional)
- Workload: Up to 30 treatments per shift depending on season; workload varies by floor
- Team Structure: Always a team lead or charge therapist on shift; travelers may be charge if experienced and willing
- Solo Coverage: Traveler will never be the only RT in-house
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC
- Stable and NRP certifications only required for NICU or travelers handling babies
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
- NICU experience is mandatory
- First-time travelers are acceptable
- Prior travel experience is not required
Job Duties
- Perform and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Administer breathing treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilator management
- Assist with bedside bronchoscopies
- Assist with intubation and may place laryngeal mask airways (LMA)
- Note: RTs do not perform EKGs
Equipment Used
- Drager ventilators
- Cervo-NICU ventilators
- Hamilton transport ventilators
- Vapotherm devices
- Philips V60 and V30 ventilators
Additional Information
- Must attend department meetings once per month
- Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address verification before proceeding with profile review
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Idaho
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Experience working with Neonate patients
