Registered Nurse (MedSurg Float) - North Dakota
Location
- City: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Unit: Medical-Surgical Float
- Beds: 61 combined medical and surgical beds
- Patient Types: Surgical patients (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general surgery), Medical patients (CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, diabetic issues)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Day shift 1:5, Night shift 1:6
- Nurse Aide Ratio: 1 aide per 15 patients
- Respiratory Equipment Used: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen
- Telemetry: Yes; monitor tech reads strips, RN confirms
Work Schedule
- Shift: Nights
- Hours per shift: 12 hours
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call/Standby: Yes, with limited call days (LCD)
- Floating: Required to float to other units as needed
Orientation
- Travel Clinical Bootcamp Orientation (CBO)
- Unit-specific float checklist
- Orientation includes every other week and night shifts, with priority given to float assignments
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience & Skills
- Experience matching current med/surg float nurse requirements (implied med/surg experience)
- No requirement for RNs to titrate drips
- No charge nurse or house supervisor duties
Dress Code
- Any scrub color allowed
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license appropriate for North Dakota
- BLS certification
