Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults

Location

  • Roanoke, Virginia

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Night shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
  • Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Patient Population & Unit Details

  • Patient ratio approximately 1:25
  • Serves adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Unit protocols include robust Assess and Treat, ventilator management, and liberation policies
  • Equipment used includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with iNOvent, and LTV1200
  • Floating within skillset required

Additional Requirements

  • Must submit all scheduling requests with application
  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Locals are not accepted due to radius restrictions
  • First-time travelers accepted; 1 year of travel experience preferred

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • I-9 or attestation
  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address meeting radius criteria (within 100 miles of facility)
  • E-Verify or attestation
  • 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (not required annually unless break in assignments >30 days)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification including transcript or diploma showing highest earned degree
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
  • Fit test within 1 year, updated annually (not required for students)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Two clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Annual skills checklist update
  • Professional photo for badge (no selfies or filters, plain background)
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements prior to start
  • Orientation manual review and acknowledgment prior to start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, Level 1 Trauma Center environment with a diverse patient population and advanced respiratory care technology.
