Description
MRI Technologist - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM), 4x10 hour shifts per week
- Weekend/Holiday: Every 3rd weekend; holidays as assigned
- Call: 3 weekday day shifts per month and 1 weekend call every 12 weeks
- Unit uses (2) 1.5T Siemens Aera MRI scanners
- Scans performed: neuro, musculoskeletal (MSK), abdominal, breast, enterography, and patients with pacemakers
- ICU patients scanned regularly; MRI safe ventilator and monitoring equipment available
- No conscious sedation performed
- EMR system: EPIC
- Scrubs: charcoal grey
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience
- MRI technologist experience within the last year
- 2 years or more of total travel experience
- Experience with Siemens MRI scanners required
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Eligibility
- Traveler’s permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility to apply
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS certification (AHA preferred, ARC or Military acceptable; RQI acceptable)
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 2 years of start
- Color Blind Testing: 100% pass required (2 attempts allowed)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 7 days of signing, valid within 2 years
- Respirator Fit Test documentation (Fit Mask) within 1 year, renewed annually if respirator use required
- Physical exam within 2 years, indicating candidate is free of restrictions and cleared to work
- Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested, no medical marijuana exemptions)
- Required immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines or documented history of disease
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination form accepted
- TB test: 2 PPDs, QGold, TSpot, or MTB within 6 months of start; chest x-ray if positive QGold/TSpot/MTB
- Tdap vaccine required only if working in L&D, NICU, or Mother/Baby units (not required for this role)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by specified deadlines
Background & Compliance
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, including:
- SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide criminal search, sex offender search, sanctions screening (OIG/SAM)
- State-specific registry checks as applicable
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Driver’s license required if job duties include driving (not applicable for this role)
- Fingerprinting required onsite or at approved locations prior to or on first day of orientation (if local)
- Candidate must complete and sign facility-specific agreements and policies prior to start
Additional Information
- No conscious sedation performed in this unit
- MRI safe equipment available for ICU patients
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with latex-free gloves
- Respirator use requires medical clearance if unable to pass fit test due to facial hair or other reasons
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
