Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia

Job Overview

• Operating Room Registered Nurse position supporting 13 OR suites and 2 minor procedure rooms.
• Average daily case volume: 60-70 cases.
• Common surgical cases include General OB/GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Endovascular, Open surgeries, Orthopedics, Plastics, Interventional Pain, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries.
• Bariatrics and transplant cases are not performed.
• Scrubbing required for RNs.
• Floating may be required to areas such as Endovascular, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, and Orthopedics if comfortable with General OR.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
• Strong Endovascular experience required.
• Must submit an unexpired driver’s license with application.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system preferred.

Call and Scheduling

• Rotating weekday and weekend call required.
• Call shifts typically every 4th to 5th weekend, depending on service line.
• Call response time: 30 minutes.
• Evening call hours: 6:45 PM – 11:15 PM.
• Midnight call usually covered by staff.
• Weekend call consists of 3-4 call shifts every six-week schedule.
• Staff allowed to schedule their own call shifts.
• Orientation includes approximately 2 shifts in the OR, with additional pairing on call shifts as needed.

Additional Information

• Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are staffed by permanent employees, not travelers.
• Dress code and scrub colors are provided.
• Conflict resolution with surgeons and staff may be necessary.
• The position involves 12-hour day shifts with rotating weekend and weekday call coverage.
