Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry
Location
- Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type
- Travel assignment
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift and Schedule
- Dayshift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Full-time, 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- No on-call required
Unit and Patient Population
- Cardiac and Telemetry patients
- Not a Stepdown unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
- Temp-to-perm opportunity possible
Job Summary
- Independently provides routine and complex nursing care in a similar clinical setting
- Manages clinical situations including delegation and assignment of care providers
- Develops long-range care plans and manages contingencies
- Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitors effectiveness and side effects
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assesses learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Minimum 1 year of Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Orientation and Competency
- New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
- Preceptorship by trained staff with competency validations including MedSurg-specific validation
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
- Completion of annual competency verification required
