Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location

• Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

• Travel assignment
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Shift and Schedule

• Dayshift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Full-time, 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• No on-call required

Unit and Patient Population

• Cardiac and Telemetry patients
• Not a Stepdown unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
• Temp-to-perm opportunity possible

Job Summary

• Independently provides routine and complex nursing care in a similar clinical setting
• Manages clinical situations including delegation and assignment of care providers
• Develops long-range care plans and manages contingencies
• Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitors effectiveness and side effects
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 1 year of Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Orientation and Competency

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
• Preceptorship by trained staff with competency validations including MedSurg-specific validation
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
• Completion of annual competency verification required
